Why I built
Martia
Because spreadsheets break when life gets complicated, and AI models cannot handle raw banking data.
Excel and me
For years, tracking my finances was simple. I was single, had one account, and kept a spreadsheet. I knew exactly how much I spent on food, how much on transport, and how much was left. It worked.
Freelancing and currencies
For many years, I worked as a freelancer for international clients: invoices in euros, payments in dollars, and foreign-currency accounts at a Polish bank. The spreadsheet started to break under exchange rates, conversion dates, currency differences, and several income streams at once.
To understand how much I had really earned and spent, I had to sit down and add it all up by hand. I knew I should do it regularly, but there was never time. Or I simply did not feel like touching it.
Then I got married
A joint account. Two incomes. Dogs. A home. My wife pregnant. Suddenly, I did not know where the money was going. As the person in the family who “handles the finances”, I felt like a CFO without tools.
I tried AI
As a software engineer with more than nine years of experience at Maze, Daftcode, and Dreamdata, I thought: I will upload my bank statements to Claude and let AI do the rest.
But the models made mistakes: they classified internal transfers between my accounts as expenses, mixed up currencies, and drew the wrong conclusions about spending patterns. Every session started from zero. No memory, no context.
The key insight
AI models are only as smart as the data they receive. You need a transformation engine that cleans bank statements, makes sure the numbers add up, and handles different currencies and internal transfers. An LLM cannot do that in a single chat session. It requires solid data engineering.
So I built it
If I have this problem, then every engineer probably does. In fact, everyone does. I could not find a European tool that provides agentic financial planning with AI. So I built one.
Even if only my friends and I use it, it is worthwhile. But I believe everyone deserves a good AI financial planner.
Who Martia is when she speaks
Imagine a friend who spent ten years working at a bank and left because she was tired of pushing loans on people. She knows the system from the inside, so vague answers do not satisfy her. When you ask her about money, she does not give a lecture; she opens your figures and tells you what she sees. She can say something uncomfortable, but never in a way that makes you feel foolish. She knows there are emotions behind every amount. That is Martia.
Read-only

No manual entry
Transactions appear automatically and are placed into categories by themselves.
Your data is yours
I do not sell it or use it for advertising.
For Polish banks
Martia is being built with Polish users and Polish banks in mind.
